  1. Tell us what you have. Pick silver or gold. Count your coins, enter the face value, or use a scale to enter their weight. The first example has 10 silver quarters.
  2. Read the metal value. This is what the silver or gold inside is worth at the spot price. Spot price means the market price for one troy ounce of pure metal.
  3. Check a buy or sale. To buy, add the asking price and checkout costs. To sell on eBay, open the eBay section and enter your planned sale price and shipping costs.

The coin count boxes are for 90% silver dimes, quarters, and half dollars from 1964 or earlier. Morgan and Peace dollars have their own box. A rare or high-grade coin may be worth more than its metal.

What do you have?

Try the 10-quarter example, or change the numbers to match your coins. Use the menu for face value, silver dollars, or items you have weighed.

Example: 10 silver quarters are entered. Change the counts to match your coins; leave other boxes at zero.

Optional: dealer and general selling estimates

Use these settings to try a dealer offer or a simple selling fee. For eBay fees, use the eBay section below. These settings do not change the metal value.

Optional: enter your own spot price

Your price will be labeled “Manual” in the results.

Check an actual purchase

Enter the seller's asking price, then add the costs you would pay at checkout. Both offers must contain the same coins or metal entered above.

Offer B

Enter the actual tax amount shown at checkout. Tax rules vary by location and item; this tool does not calculate tax for you.

Optional: estimate eBay selling costs

What might you keep from an eBay sale?

First enter the coin or lot above. Then enter the price you think it will sell for. This estimate is for one eBay order on eBay.com in the U.S. If you sell the coins one at a time, run the calculator for each sale.

Pick the category used in your eBay listing. “Bullion” is an eBay category, not a guess about the coin's silver content. eBay may charge a fee on the sale price, the shipping paid by the buyer, and the buyer's sales tax. Sales tax is not money you keep. Your own postage and packing costs come out later.

This covers eBay's listed U.S. final value and per-order fees. Enter any listing, ad, or other fees you expect. Your account, listing choices, and seller rating can change the real charge. Rates checked September 27, 2026. See eBay's regular seller fees or eBay Store fees.

Melt value is what the silver or gold content is worth at the spot price. Collectible coins may be worth more.

These are estimates, not offers or appraisals. The 90% coin calculation uses about 0.715 fine troy ounce per $1 face value for average circulated dimes, quarters, and half dollars. Morgan and Peace dollars use 0.77344 fine troy ounce each. Do not use these presets for clad or 40% silver coins. Condition, rarity, authenticity, taxes, and selling costs can change a coin's actual value.
