Roman Silver Denarius of Titus NGC (AD 79-81) NGC(CH-F)

The son of the Emperor Vespasian, Titus assumed command of Roman troops fighting the Jewish rebels in Judaea. In 70, he captured and destroyed Jerusalem, including the whole of the Second Temple. The Arch of Titus, which survives, commemorates this triumph. Despite questions about his character, Titus was widely considered a good emperor.
