Pontus, Amisos, Dionysus type. Under Mithradates VI NGC Slab(NG)

These Pontus, Amisos – Dionysus type coins were issued under Mithradates VI during the late Hellenistic period. Struck at Amisos, a key Black Sea mint, the depiction of Dionysus highlights themes of prosperity, vitality, and divine favor. The imagery reflects the strong Greek cultural identity of Amisos and Mithradates VI’s broader strategy of presenting himself as a protector of Hellenic traditions while uniting diverse populations under his rule during his long struggle against Roman expansion. Encapsulated in an NGC slab, the coin is preserved and authenticated, highlighting its historical significance and collectability.
