Roman Empire, Fausta (Died 326 CE), Cententionalis(C) — representative supplier photograph

Fausta was the second wife of Constatine the Great, daughter of the emperor Maximian and mother of the future Constantius II. She was believed to be behind the conspiracy that led to the execution of her stepson Crispus, having made false accusations of treachery, incest and rape against him. Constantine ordered her execution and decreed her damnatio memoriae, meaning any memory or record of her be erased. She is totally absent from his official biography and her sons even when in power never revoked this order. Her coins remain one of the few testaments to her existence.
